cannot access Windows Update

Sarah

Everytime I try to do Windows Update I get an error
saying that I am not allowing Active X controls. I have
all of my internet settings set to allow or prompt me for
active X, but I am not being prompted. I have run a
couple different adware/spyware programs and removed
viruses, but still am unable to do any windows updates. I
would greatly appreciate any help.

Try re-registering the following .dll files
Softpub.dll
Wintrust.dll
Initpki.dll
Urlmon.dll

1. Click Start >Run and type
regsvr32 Softpub.dll
Click okay to register it
You should get a dialog box telling you that it was successful.
2. Repeat the process for the other .dll files.
3. Restart your computer and try the update site again.
