Mary

I have just added a Vista PC to my home network.

I have changed some folders including the Documents folder on the
Vista system to enable file sharing and allowed everyone full control
(via advanced sharing/share permissions).

When I go the Vista system from either of the 2 XP Pro systems I get
the message "\\Mary is not accessible. You might not have permission
to use this resource."

The Vista PC is set to Private network and all PCs are set to the same
Workgroup name (WORKGROUP). The IP address range of all PCs are
allowed in Zonealarm (If I switch Zonealarm off and run without a
firewall I still have the problem). All the PCs connect to the
internet OK.

I can't see anything I have missed.

I never had this problem on XP when adding other PCs to the network.

Any help appreciated

I had the same problem. Get Network Magic. There's a free trial.

See post above, I think you are describing my troubles, if you are try this:

Found my solution ( at least for me). Permissions are indeed granted in two
places. The trick that worked for me was in the security tab (after share
tab) you must "edit" permissions then "add" which allows you to type in the
box "Everybody" which is not listed, you have to type it in. I would not have
known to type it if not for "Everybody" being the default term in the share
permissions folder. Really overly complicated, I thought this was all to be
much easier.
