I have a new notebook computer running XP Pro in which I cannot access
non-secure web sites. I get "Cannot find server or DNS Error." I can access
all secure sites (so it's not a DNS error), but none that are non-secure. I
have all software firewalls disables. All other computers on the network work
just fine. I can ping and tracert to non-secure sites and also send and
receive email.

Any ideas out there???

Hi Mark,
= Try this, Open Control Panel >> Double click Networking and Internet
Connections >> Double click Internet Options and on the IE Properties window
click on AdvancedTab.
There scroll down under the Browsing Option and check this box:
[&] Security
[ ] Use TLS 1.0 check this
Click Apply then [OK] to close the IE Pro Window.

What your Security Settings set to?.
HTH.
Please let us know.

Thanks for the response. I already had that set. But I did find late last
night that there were still a couple of routines running from the McAfee
trial software that Dell installed that did not uninstall correctly. I had to
kill several services that were launching automatically when XP was loading.
I was then able to access all web pages.

Once that was cleaned out I reinstalled my other antivirus software, Windows
firewall, and now all seems to be working great.

Thanks.
