Hi folks,

After I cange the disk in a CDROM or DVD drive I get a
message "X:\ not accessible Wrong Function" does anybody
know what causes this and how to overcome it. If I boot in
safe mode there is no problem. I have tried running
msconfig in disgnostic start up mode but that still has
the problem...Help!

I had a similar problem. If you open my computer and right click teh drive
icon and choose properties, what tabs are there? Is the "recording" tab
there? For me, it was not. To restore the recording function, I had to regedit.

Obviously, I am a stranger to you, and so take my experience with fooling
around with the registry with a grain of salt and with no warranty. Export first!

I opened hkey_current_user
software
microsoft
windows
currentVersion
explorer
CD burning
Drives

The "drive type" keyword had the value 3, which I set to 1. That brought back
the drives ability to think of itself as a recorder. I no longer get the
wrong function...although the drive doesn't recognize blank discs, a new and
seemingly related problem. I post this message to help otehrs.

Good luck.
