Cannot access links function in PowerPoint 2007

Hi. I am working with PowerPoint 2007, Windows Vista, and the links area is
not accessible. Can you please help? I tried using the control-K and that
doesn't work either.

What exactly do you mean "links area" and "not accessible"? Could you
clarify?

Remember, we can't see what you're referring to or trying to do there....
 
I have created my slideshow and want to create a hyperlink within the
slideshow to an outside web page. At the top of the screen is a section
marked "links" with "hyperlink" within that section. For some reason, that
area is not accessible to me. I can click on it but nothing happens. Is
there something else I'm supposed to do to be able to use that function?

Just checking - Do you have a shape / text selected before trying to create
a link?

Thanks for the additional information -- it helps tremendously!

You must have something selected to attach a hyperlink to before that option
becomes available.
