Hi,

I have just installed Windows XP on one of the computers
i have, it was previously running Win2k and ran fine on
the network before.
I am now unable to access any of the two other machines
on the network. (one Win2k and one XP Pro)
I can ping both machines Ip addresses but not by name.
I am using a simple 8 port hub hooked up to a DSL modem.
All computers have the same workgroup name and i am using
TCP/IP and netBEUI as well.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

I have much the same problem. I had 4 computers using Win98SE all connected to a hub with DSL fed into the hub. We upgraded the computers to XP Home, and now we can't see each other or share printers. I can't even ping one from the other, yet they all have internet access. They all use the same workgroup name and have distinct computer names. The printers that are connected are all configged for sharing. I'm losin' my mind on this. So, please, someone give us some ideas that go beyond the network troubleshooter.
