Cannont export contacts from public folders

When I select a group of contacts in our Public Contacts folder then
File/Import Export/Export to a file/Excel. The dialog box then says, Select
folder to export from. The public folder I need to export from is not
available. Only personal folders are visible. Also, I only want to export the
selected contacts. I've searched this newsgroup for similar issues and have
dug around in Slipstick and haven't found a clear answer. Any
experience/solution with this is greatly appreciated.
 
Copy the contacts to an empty contacts folder in your mailbox or a Personal
Folders file. You will then be able to export from that folder.
 
thank you Sue. I was hoping to avoicd that step if possible. I have so many
contacts 2653 to be exact to export in different ways and I really don't want
to load up my personal folders. It'd be nice if MS could make it possible to
export directly from Public folders in the future.
