Hi...

I was pointed in the direction of Candy Press by a couple people previously
when I asked for shopping cart suggestions. I downloaded the free version
to try out, and I'm stuck. The instructions say to copy the unzipped files
and folders to my webserver. I did that. The next step is to start the
website configuration by opening one of their pages. The instructions for
doing this say to enter the URL to the upload location followed by
/installer/000_welcome.asp. My domain name is HollyHomemade.com, so I enter
www.hollyhomemade.com/installer/000_welcome.asp and I get "page cannot be
displayed" I tried going through the ftp where I can just see the folders.
I go into the Installer folder and 000_welcome.asp is there, but if I double
click to open it, I get the same thing - "page cannot be displayed" Any
ideas on this? If anyone is experienced with Candy Press, I'm also
wondering, once I purchase the registered copy, is any support included?
I'm obviously an extreme novice and might need assistance along the way.

I know this isn't technically a FrontPage question, but I would appreciate
any help.

Thanks,
Paul

Before you can ever really start on one of these projects, you have to check
and see what your server is running for OS and web server, and what
server-side technologies are available toyou. In thise case, the web server
is Apache. The technology that Candy Press uses, Active Server Pages (asp)
will only work on the Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) family
of web servers. It won't work on Apache. I can't tell which version of
Apache it is, or what the scripting languages it might support, but you'll
need to start with your host to determine what will work.

FYI, you used some of the drawing tools to make your site. These tools are
not a good idea as they use Vector Markup Language (VML) to render the
drawing objects and VML is not supported by any browser other than IE right
now. That means your web site will not look as good to people who aren't
using IE. By default, FrontPage should have disabled this feature although
it can become enabled if you change the authoring or page compatibility
settings to IE only or custom for a browser choice.
