I cancelled the rendering of a video file that was going to take too long for
me to wait for. Can I finish the rendering using the data in the tmp file? Is
there any way to get back that information? It was taken from a video capture
card. There is no original file.

Hello,

Were you "Capturing" from the video card or were you "Rendering" a video
???

If capturing then the answer has to be No, unless you can cause the actual
source to be replayed so that you can again capture it.

If rendering then there must be something that you are rendering from...a
File

The Bad news
==========

Unless you have an "original" there is no way you can proceed by any normal
method available via Movie Maker. By renaming the TMP file to either a WMV
or AVI file you might ....and its a very small "might" be able to recover
the video it contains...but with respect to the video not "captured"
clearly if you cannot get the source for that capture to play again, well,
your stuck.

Not very helpful I know.

I was capturing from the video card. When I clicked "finished" It started
saving the video. After about 35% I hit cancel because I needed to do
something else. I didn't realize that it wouldn't let me finish later.
