I'm just having trouble getting a single-sheet print job to cancel.
In
fact, I'v never been able to do it, at least with HP software. If you
open the printer icon in control panel and select cancel print, it
will say status-deleting, but it won't, actually. I think they want
you to
have no alternative but to print what's in the que so that you use up
the
ink.

Which operating system and which printer? Windows 98 does a poor (or not at
all?) job of cancelling print jobs, XP is better.

Typically a one page print job will have already been sent to the printer's
internal memory before you could open the print dialog to cancel the job.

Most HP inkjet printers made in the last five years or so have a button with
an "X". This is the cancel button, it will cancel jobs that are in the
printer's internal queue or that have started printing but are still being
spooled from the PC.

you can use this trick

start --> run --> services.msc --> then restart the printer spooler
service
