cancel print job does not work

How come cancelling print jobs doesn't work. I've tried to cancel this job
numerous times. Even unpowered the printer and started it up again to get
crap output as the codes defining the image to be a picture were not
recognized and the photo paper is being used up printing garbage. This
started when the printer ran out of paper. Then I rebooted but the job in
the print queue is still there and the printer still wastes my photo paper.
Please help me get rid of this print job so I can shut XP down and resubmit
the job and not waste more ink and paper.

Try deleting the contents of this folder:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\spool\PRINTERS

I've found that I must pause printing, prior to cancelling, inorder for
cancelling a print job to work.
