can you use smileys in outlook mail?

I use Microsoft Outlook to access my email, as I have a couple of accounts. I
use "smileys" when I use Yahoo Mail. Can I use "smileys" in Outlook?

Of course. But to do so, your email has to be in HTML and you have to
INSERT the smiley from a disc image.
 
Wrong answer in so many ways.

To the OP, you can use Word as the message editor and use the autocorrect function to automatically change the Colon+End Paren to a smile or any other function. Outlook 2007 supports smileys out of the box.

Sure. Smileys are nothing more than just juxtapositioned text
characters entered in the correct order.

There are more combinations than are listed in this article. Just
because you use them doesn't mean the recipient's e-mail client will
recognize them (to show a graphic representation rather than just show
the text colors. The ;-> that I use for a devilish wink might not,
for example, be recognized although >-) might be recognized as the
same thing although ;-> seems more easily understood by a human than
is >-) .

It's just text. Add it whenever you want.
