Can you use a PS/2 to USB adapter on a KVM switch?

I want to get a KVM switch, but my keyboard is PS/2 and my mouse is USB.
Can I buy one of those $1.00 adapters on ebay and have it work with a KVM?

Probably not. The wire adapters from PS2 to USB
only work with a mouse that is a dual mode device.
You'll need an active device, if there is such a device.

Thanks for the tip.

It depends on the specific mouse. Many USB mice do support
PS2 with those simple $1 pin-adapters... but not all. Most
good, name-brand mice do, so if your mouse doesn't, you
might consider getting a new mouse that does.
