The short answer is no. There should be a dialog box appear warning you they
will be permanently deleted, unless you have that option turned off.

XP System Restore will put them back, if you made a restore
point before using any registry cleaner.

System restore, of course, puts back only executable files or their support
files. It doesn't put back user data. I'm not clear enough about what
CCleaner removes to know how much is in which category, but I would guess
that a fair amount is user data--temp files and the like.

It is indeed possible,in fact it's easy to put back anything CCleaner
deletes.Prior to deletion,I always get a back up screen come up asking me if
I want to save the stuff it's deleting, have each and every one in my Docs
file just in case.SS

That only applies to the registry entries (Issues) CCeaner deletes. For the
junk file removal - they are permanently deleted.

Thanks - I've only used this app once or twice--I've an inherent distrust of
registry cleaners, and this one wasn't any exception. Error messages from
an app doing automated work in the registry don't inspire confidence. I
know that it's improving, and I don't think there's anything terribly wrong
with it, but this still isn't a category of software that I see as needed.
