CA forces you to give them your credit card just for the trial version.
How are the torrents for this type of stuff?

NO !

They are often packaged with malware !

As David says ... avoid warez altogether.

I purchased Pest Patrol when it was still from Sunbelt Software. IMNSHO it
ain't no better than AdAware.

Opps - that's gonna get you into trouble with Vrodok the Prat.

Why would you want to trust some unknown source for pirated software?

How could you have missed all the times people have been compromised by
something they thought was a pirated copy of some application only to
find out that it contained a trojan/backdoor?

With all of the "FREE" versions of malware removal tools and then proper
security measures, why not just use something you can get for free
without having to backdoor it?

I agree with the others, and I've seen it happen to others, many pirated
apps are not what you think they are.

First it's illegal, secondly it is stupid - warez are usually filled
with malware. To be honest, Pest Patrol is nothing special. I think
that Ewido is a much better application for detecting and removing
malware.

You could always use Spybot Search and Destroy and Spyware Blaster to
protect your system and both are free. AVAST is also a very good free
anti-virus application and it even scans NTTP (newsgroups). Microsoft
Anti-Spyware beta is a pretty good program and it is free too.

I have a license for Pest Patrol but it just didn't do the job as
well as I would have liked. Webroots Spy Sweeper is an effective,
chatty program, but like Bit Defender it caused a lot of crashed on my
otherwise very stable system.

I use NOD32 for anti-virus, Microsoft Anti-Spyware beta, and Ewido.
Zone Alarm sits behind a NAT SPI firewall. It does a good job of
filtering email attachments.

My system is clean as a whistle and stays that way.

If you give your CC to a warez group you deserve what ever happens.

To quote John Wayne, "Life is tough. It's tougher when you're stupid."

I think that he was referring to Computer Associates the software
vendor, not a warez group.
