can you store a calculated field

i have several numbers in a form at the end it adds up all the numbers in a
total field this field is a calculated field and not a field in the table
is there a way to store this number in the table or how else can i add the
numbers and store them

Storing derived data such as this in your table accomplishes
three things: it wastes disk space; it wastes time (almost
any calculation will be MUCH faster than a disk fetch); and
most importantly, it risks data corruption. If one of the
underlying fields is subsequently edited, you will have data
in your table WHICH IS WRONG, and no automatic way to detect
that fact.

Just redo the calculation whenever you need it, either as a
calculated field in a Query or just as you're now doing it -
in the control source of a Form or a Report textbox.

To answer the question... you can create a Totals query which
does the same summing operation, and change it to an Append query to
create a new record in a table; or you can create an Update query
using the DSum() function to do the total. But it's still A Bad Idea.
