Hi

In the dim and distant MS-DOS past I used to have various useful
character strings assigned to my function keys. Is it possible to do
this in XP? All I want to do is permanently assign my network
username (which I need to type in many times a day) to (eg) the F12
key. Ideally the character string would end with the control code for
the <Enter> key, so I would just need to hit F12 to log in. (I don't
need a password).

Thanks for any advice
David

Ask nicely. It worked for me. Of course they were all my personal
friends.

Really if you explain a real business need and if they are not able to
offer a substitute, they should be able to allow it. Remember they or you
will need to buy a copy. No pirate stuff on the system.

If you can find an old PC with W3.1 or the disks you can take out the 3
recorder files and they should run them in XP they work in NT4 anyway
