Can you REVERT to Win 98 after 2000 has been installed?

I installed Windows 2000 over Windows 98, and now, of
course, there are a lot of issues that have come up...
From the incompatibility of existing software to programs
that won't work at all. I've tried upgrading the other
software, but many drivers don't exist and/or the old
programs can no longer be removed to re-install
(especially Norton Systemworks - that program is stuck
because of a file called "instopts.dat" that Windaows
can't seem to locate or something)! Help!

After going through all this,. my feeling is that I need
to go back and re-install Windows 98 and hope all is
well.. CAN THIS EVEN BE DONE? Will it write over 2000
and preform as before, or should I keep trying to work
with each program and somehow get each to work (even
though some of the CDs don't exist - MS Works 4.5 - or are
out of date..??
Thanks in advance for anyboy's help...

You can always install anything again, overwriting previous installs
but I suspect you already know that. If you're thinking that a new
install of Win98 will return the computer to its previous condition,
maintaining previous Win98 files - I think the answer is no, unless
you had previously backed it up.

Perhaps in future, you should create 2 partitions on your hard
disk, one for each OS. Btw, 'instopts.dat' is not on my Win2K
Pro system, either :-)
