Good afternoon everyone. I was wondering if there is an
easy way to push out the new IE security patches to client
PC's instead of going to all of them, logging in with
administrative rights, then installing it? We have a large
network and with new security patches coming out almost
daily it could almost require a full time "patcher"
position. Thanks in advance!

Hi Don. Look into Software Update Services which is free from MS and
requires the use of an internal IIS server, preferably not one that is being
used for any other web sites. The process on installing will automatically
run the IIS lockdown tool, so be sure to back up IIS settings before
installing. Then you can use Group Policy to manage how clients [W2K/XP]
will receive updates, and the schedule option does not require administrator
intervention. SUS also allows you to approve which critical updates to
deploy. There is also a SUS newsgroup. --- Steve

Hi

Check out MS SUS Server Security Update Server.
Apparently it should work

But when I went to deploy it using a GPO nothing happened
you may be more lucky?

is another withe papper I found a couple of days ago. Good
