i just want to make a picture slide show using pictures from my digital camera and putting them to music, however i cannot figure out how to do it. HELP!

Hi there,
Yes you can make slide shows. Have you read the help file that comes
with the program. There should be enough in that to get you moving quite
nicely.

If you're *only* interested in digital photos (no video), you might find that slide-show software better suits your needs (features such as auto-fitting slides to duration of background music). PhotoStory from Microsoft (part of the Plus! package) is one such application (although it doesn't have the "auto fit" feature), there are numerous others
Of course, this recommendation really depends on what "your needs" are. WMM2 will work fine and give you a very high degree of control over the slide show video. But I've found that with a week's worth of vacation pictures, I'm much more interested in getting to a finished product quickly than setting a different transition for 300+ photos or trying to sync a certain photo to a particular spot the music

use it.... PhotoStory is a much easier approach to making a music video from
still images.
But it isn't free (it's included in the $20 Plus Pack), and there are more
limitations than Movie Maker has.
