Can you have multiple email addresses in outlook?

I have the requirement for two separate email addresses in
Outlook for two companies. I know I can receive to both.

Does anyone know how to make sure that when I send a new
email or reply to a message it masks the sending email
address or do I have to specifically reset the email
configuration each time.

I'm sorry, but your grammar is hard for me to parse, so I am going to
have to guess at what you mean.

Do you mean that you would like to be able to have more than one FROM
address that you can choose when you are composing a message that you
will be sending?

As far as I know, Outlook does not facillitate this. If it's Outlook
Express, you can have more than one identity and switch back and forth
easily.

For Outlook, I would think you'd have to have more than one Profile.
Switching would be possible. But, you'd probably have some trouble with
things like sharing messages, folders, settings, etc. You'd probably
have a mess.

[thinking out loud - so that Outlook gurus can hear and comment]
Hmmmm.. maybe not. Why not have two profiles that both point to the
same Personal Folders file (PST)? Since you can only run one instance
of Outlook, there's no problem with corrupting the PST, right?

But, I do share the desire to have the ability to specify the "Sender"
in an outgonig message. I have that 'need' too.

Good luck

It's easy to set up multiple accounts for multiple email addresses. One is the default, but you can easily switch by using the dropdown arrow on the Accounts button to change to other From addresses. Make sure the Accounts button is showing on the toolbar.

You're quite right! How convenient!
Thanks for enlightening me about this new(er) feature

Steve -

I've been searching for quite some time to this answer and
have yet to solve it. For some reason you can choose you
the message is from, but it will still show which ever one
is configured to be the sending address and will include
next to the from "on behalf of" the sending email that you
used. Why they wouldn't just let this be the sending
email address is beyond me. There have to be many people
who multiple business emails and also a personal email
address. Hopefully someone knows of a slick way around
this without having to log in and out of outlook in order
to accomplish this.

Is the accounts option available in 2000?

I can't seem to find it.

Thanks,

Brian

Look under Help->about in Outlook. Does it say Internet Mail Only or
Corporate or Workgroup. The accounts feature only works in Outlook 2000
Internet Mail Only mode.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

After searching google.groups.com and finding no answer,
(e-mail address removed) asked:

You're getting the "on behalf of" because you're using the From field to
choose a sender. The From field should not be used except by Exchange users
who have Send on Behalf of or Send As permissions on another user's mailbox.
For standalone users, or anyone else who is not sending mail for another
person, there is a different method for choosing the sending account. The
exact method depends on your Outlook version.
