Can you Ad-hoc with Bluetooth same as Wi-Fi

Hi,

Using 802.11b adaptors, I set up an Ad-Hoc network between my desktop and
laptop and can map drives, share printers and internet etc no problem (using
win-XP)

My brother has Bluetooth adaptors on his desktop and laptop (win2000) and I
just can't seem to map drives or share printers. Within the Bluetooth
software you can fileshare, but that just opens a copy of the file, not
actually read/writing directly to the remote device.

Is this a Bluetooth, Win2000 or Stupid User "thing".

Can you use Bluetooth to set up a similar Ad-Hoc network as with 802.11b
adaptors etc?

Although the word "ad-hoc" doesn't apply here as a
technical term (as it does in 802.11?), you can (at
least in theory) do this.

WinXP and greater treat Bluetooth as a regular network
(maybe Win2000 too) I believe.

You will have to get IP addresses on both and turn the
laptop into a router with ICS or some such.

Since ICS is a DHCP Server that is the easist way to
get it to work and the fastest way to see if it works.

Share the LAN card with no other net in the machine
(except the Bluetooth) and see if it takes it.

It isn't really a Bluetooth thing, but it might be YOUR
(his) Bluetooth VENDOR's driver/implementation problem.

Why not just buy him a couple of 802.11b cards (used and CHEAP!).

Or some decent 802.11G stuff for a few bucks more.
