Two basic questions.
1. Can XP home edition desktop join a domain?
2. Does XP home edition has built utility to write onto
my CDRW? Or should I buy third party software like Roxio?

Thanks.

XP Home is NOT designed to join domains, for that XP Pro is
designed to do so.

All versions of XP have a very basic CD-R function, for
CD-RW and DVD, Roxio is compatible with the XP default
program.

Buy a third party program, they're much easier to use and
have more functionality.

1) No but it can use domain resources in the same manner that a Win98 or
Win95 system uses them.

2) Yes/No. XP writes to CDRW but does not use packet writing. Instead it
does multi-session writing (same as CDR) and can totally erase the CD (only
difference in XP from its CDR writing). You'll probably want a third party
burning program to use CDRWs in a more convenient manner.
