I have a large amount of photos, several gigs, and I have a Pioneer DVD-R
drive...can XP burn to it using the same method I use now to burn CD-Rs?
Also can it be read on other computers? Or on Macs?

I have all the XP updates.

If not, what is an inexpensive program that will allow burning data discs
for distributing to clients with a DVD drive?

Thanks!

Frank

Windows XP does not have the native capability to burn DVDs.
You'll need to purchase and install a third-party DVD burning
program, such as Nero (http://www.nero.com/us/index.html)

Have you tried installing the software that came with your DVD? I useAhead
Nero 6 Ultra, $70.00 from Ahead but you can get it for $10.00 all day long
on eBay.

Yes..I was just hoping there was an easy solution to provide drag and drop
save to a drive letter. The drive did not come with software and I did not
want to purchase a whole software suite of utilities I will never use, just
want to record to DVD.

Does Nero or others offer just a small program for drag and drop drive
letter saves?

Not unless you purchase the suite. Maybe you should have done your homework
before purchasing a bare drive...?

You will need a DVD enabled writing program [presuming you meant to say
Pioneer DVD R/RW Drive] such as Nero or Roxio and others provide.
Before you buy one just be sure that such was not provided by Pioneer
with the drive if you purchased and installed it yourself or if the
Drive was on the Computer when when purchased most manufacturers would
pre-install that capability.

These are all free and I have personally attest that the first two work
well. (I haven't tried burn4free)
