Can write to cdr but not to cdrw

I cannot write to a cdrw. It says CD writing wizard "Insert a writable disk
to continue". No problem writing to a cdr.

You need packet-writing software, which doesn't come with XP. Both Roxio
and Nero include packet-writing software with their programs.

First thing - verify the make/model of your CD-RW/DVD-RW device...

Second thing - if you have CD-RW media and are using the Windows XP native
software - you will have to erase the CD before you re-write to it. Windows
XP software does not treat CD-RWs like large floppy diskettes... Malke is
correct in that you need third party software in order to use CD-RWs as I
believe they are intended to be used...
