I use a Hummingbird for email client at work and I would like to automate my
data collection by using the Data Collection Email Option.
We are the governement and it is unlikely we'll change our email system.
I am using Access 2002 right now and if this was possible we would upgrade
to 2007.
Can it be done without Outlook?
Thank you

Thanks Peter but this won't work as getting any new bit of software/componant
(as I understand this is) to our network set up would take years to be
approved.
We are still on XP here and office 2002.
Thanks
Dom

Dom,

I don't think Access has any facility to download and store emails.
Perhaps you could import the emails from the Hummingbird program
itself. Try to find a forum for that software (if there is one) and
see what they suggest.

Sorry I could not help.

Peter Hibbs.

You only need outlook on the machine that sends out the emails.

the emails sent out are HTML and can be used/consumed by any email client.

So, you need the office suite if you going to use access (it makes sense if
you using ms-access that you need ms-access!!!).

And, if you using the email "gathering" feature, then you need outlook. it
is outlook that accepts those incoming "responses".

So, your end uses can use any kind of email system. Even web based ones like
Hot or Gmail.

However, on the programming and database end. If you using access to do
this, then you need access. And if you use the email gathering feature, it
requires and relies on outlook features.
