We have a network with 6 users - each with some unique and some shared
contacts - is there a way to merge these all and have one big list, and maybe
have each person put their private contacts in a separate list?

I am just finding this response... I hope you are still there Ben! Yes, we
are running this on a Small Business Server. And I am still trying to create
a single Contact list for the group without success! thank, Carolyn

Sorry if my reply posts twice - it isn't showibng up here. I am only now
finding this response so I hope Ben is still follwoing this! Yes, I am
running SBS and I have not yet figured this out. Any words of wisdom? Thank
you!

Have you tried creating a new contacts folder in the Public Folders hierarchy? Users can then copy contacts they want to share to that.

I have - but we ideally would like to have this as the only - or the default
- contact list for everyone, rather than have to maintain 2. We would like
to have to make updates in only one place.

There's nothing built into Outlook to make that happen. You might want to look at the sync solutions at http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/sync.htm
