Can volume be adjusted via an action button during a show?

First of all I want to thank Geetesh for a good article
http://www.indezine.com/products/powerpoint/ppsoundacross.html

I followed the instructions and I was successful, first time in my life,
inserting sounds into presentations using both methods - insert movies and
sounds plus using transition sounds to loop.

Now, I am wondering if I can include an action button or something similar
on all slides for the recipient of the PPS file to click to adjust the volume
or end the sound during the show.

I know one can always go to the taskbar and adjust volume or even check
"mute."

Appreciate advice.

Have you tried adding a button and setting the Action Settings of that
button to Play Sound, and the sound chosen is [Stop All Sounds]? That
won't mute future sounds, but it should stop anything that is currently
playing.

Thank you, David. No, I didn't try that. As soon as I saw "play sound," I
dismissed it forgetting that there was "Stop Previous Sound" in the drop down
menu. It was late at night when I should have been sleeping.

Anyway, it is good that you have inspired me to open my eyes wider. Now, I
have discovered that I can repeat a tune using the insert sound method.
Previously, I didn't know there was such a feature, and I thought I could
only repeat a tune using the transition loop method.

I have another problem to solve. When I switched to the previous slide, the
tune didn't get changed or I had two tunes going at the same time.
Everything is fine going forward though. This may be the result of me using
two different methods in one presentation??

Slide #1 - Tune "A" - Insert sound method - repeating till end of slide
Slide #2 - Tune "B" - Transition loop method - loop until next sound

May be I can still use two methods, but have to change "after previous" to
something else. I'll experiment some more. If I can't solve the problem,
I'll post separately.

Thanks for your help!

Beware. Add-ins must be installed on the computer of the recipient so I
don't know if this will work for you. Add-ins are great when you control
the comptuer of the presentation, but they don't work as well when you
want to distribute presentations to others (who might not install the
add-ins).
