Can TS Client just launch an application?

I have a remote office which runs exclusively off TS.
They don't like having different desktops to work from.
Is there any way to configure shortcuts to the apps on
the Terminal Server (i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel) so that
the user doesn't see the TS desktop, but clicks an icon
which opens just that application rather than running a
separate desktop? If so, will that application be able
to print to their local printer?

Yes, you can configure this quite easily. If you go into
your terminal services configuration and double click on
the RDp-TCP connection, you can configure an application
to always run for that specific connection, rather than
the user being dumped right to the desktop of the terminal
server.

Alternatively, and probably a better solution, is to edit
the connection properties of the RDP connect on the user's
desktop at their local workstation. If you open up the
mstsc.exe application, you should be able to enter a
location to the application that you want to start
automatically upon logging on. You can then create
multiple RDP shortcuts, all which connect to the same
server but open up different applications at logon.

Chris,
Matt's suggestion is one if $ is real tight, but it will open a new
session for each app and thus increase the usage of resources vs having 1
session open and the links like you wanted. You want is exactly the program
I developed, AppLauncher. It's inexpensive and does what you want. No
desktop, just links to apps. www.applauncher.com
