If I modify definition list style on the tocproto.htm page
and add an image in dl tag will that insert an image into
all new threads? I want a question mark to appear with all
new threads only.

You need to apply a theme and modify the theme (Format Theme Modify Text - More text styles) to apply a CSS style to your DW

I want the new posts to insert a picture.
Is it ok to just add a theme to one or 2 pages on the web?
and the rest no theme?

you can actually get your image with .css you can specify an image for the
background of a specific element. you'd have to make your image with a
graphics editor.
I don't know how you'd get the background image for just the "new posts"
unless they're a different tag than "old posts".

Have you given any thought to using a different "forum" software? there are
tons of great ones out there and lots of them are free.
 
First of all if your DW is not a subweb and your host supports subweb, make it a subweb or you will have problems w/ you root web
publishing destroying your DW

You must apply the theme as a default theme to the web (you can apply no theme to any page you want to not have the theme)

The tocproto uses dl/dt tags for the posts and you can modify the styles (in the theme) for dl/dt tags to anything that is a valid
CSS style (not sure you can apply an image to a dl/dt)

Recommend studying how themes and css work, and the html of your DW page (view source in browser) to get a better feel of what you
are trying to do and the constrains the FP DW has

Yes I thought of doing that. FP doesn't offer much. Any
suggestions on which one to use. I need something simple
ha. I like the navigation of FP.
