Hi Experts,

After a long M.I.A. time I'm back again.

I would like to know if the following could be accomplished via Access & its
reporting;
- I need to have a rectangular floorplan divided into square sections all
named i.e. A01, A02,...etc
- Within a data entry form user selects/enters one or several cells
- User indicates these selection(s) are confirmed/temporary
- The report will print this floorplan with shaded cells showing i.e. C in
each selected cell
- Rest of the cells shall remain white (no fill)

I have a feeling that it should be done but just can't figure out how/where
to start and basically the logic.

Any help, guidance will highly be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Do you have a table with coordinates of A01, A02, ...? If not, that would be
a good start. You might want to scoot over to the "tabledbdesign" news group
and find the recent thread "How to click on an image to enter data in a
table".

You can use the Line method in a report to draw filled rectangles.

Hi Duane,

Thanks for the pointers. I intend to use the idea for a floor-space
reservation application for a close friend. Purpose is to be able to keep
track of all reserved/confirmed space via the database and be able to print
the "current" status when needed.

When you indicate "coordinates" it sounds like you are refering to the
actual coordinates of the drawing. Am I correct? I was thinking of actually
drawing the layout via lines on the report page and then translate say A01
into mips(was it? or twips?) when transferring the data in the database on
to the report. I might be aiming in the wrong direction...

And thanks for the post on tabledesign which I will try out.

Most probably I will be back since I'm starting once again.
