can these be deleted

I'm trying to clean my C drive to make more room and was wondering if these
were safe to delete:

ntuser.dat.bkp
usrclass.dat.rctemp
usrclass.dat.tmp.log
usrclass.dat.bkp

Hi,
Why you want to delete them?, did you delete/remove a profile from this
Machine?.
These they are concerned with the profile (s)/Roaming profile(s) created on
this machine.
You can delete the usrclass.dat.tmp.log, but I'm unsure for the reset as
they used by the profile(s) existing on this Machine and can cause profile or
unstable system if been deleted!.
Try to download the User CleanUp Hive from MS.

I only have one profile on this machine, mine. ntuser.dat.bkp size is
20,736kb that's why I wanted to know to remove it.

Debbie, you can remove it, but not the ntuser.dat leave this alone as your
Profile info and set up data all are there stored.

cleaning the drive
is a very good idea.

but i doubt that deleting
those files will make
an impact on the drive.

there are some software
that make the job easier,
like this one:

what might be helpful
too is to check your
running software and their
configurations as maybe
they are making backups
for you in the background.

another area is that maybe
too much disk space is being
reserved like for system restores,
internet temporary, virtual mem,
etc...

The creator of these files is a puzzle,
ntuser.dat.bkp
usrclass.dat.bkp

BKP =TurboVidion Dialog Designer Backup

Research gives the name TurboVidion Dialog Designer Backup but it is not
apparent what programme that is!

Go to Start, Control Panel, Folder Options, View, Advanced Settings and
verify that the box before "Show hidden files and folders" is checked
and "Hide protected operating system files " is unchecked. You may need
to scroll down to see the second item. You should also make certain that
the box before "Hide extensions for known file types" is not checked.
Next in Windows Explorer make sure View, Details is selected and then
select View, Choose Details and check before Name, Type, Total Size, and
Free Space.

Can you locate ntuser.dat.bkp and usrclass.dat.bkp and right click on
each, select Properties and provide details of these files.

well it won't let me use that scan , I keep getting a script error when I
try to click the next button.

hmm,
it is a very friendly.

however, there are
a few things that prevent
scripts from running since
scripts can be malicious. so
it might be might be a protection
software or a setting.

have you had other
issues?

Your further information threw up two lines of enquiry.

Have you installed or tried to install AT&T security software?

Have you looked at anything to do with the Apache Lenja project?

I think you may also have entries which will show as Start Ups
(autoloading from the Registry) using Autoruns

Use Autoruns to find any unwanted start ups!

With Autoruns you can uncheck an item, which disables it from starting,
or you can can right click an item and then delete it. If you uncheck
you can recheck to re-enable the item. It is a much safer approach than
editing the Registry. Another useful feature of the programme is that
you can right click an item and select Search Online to get information
about the item selected.

These entries or some of them could show up in a HijackThis log as O4
Entries.

O4 - Startup: NTUSER.DAT.rctemp.LOG
O4 - Startup: NTUSER.DAT.rcbak
O4 - Startup: NTUSER.DAT
O4 - Global Startup: ntuser.dat
O4 - Global Startup: ntuser.dat.LOG

What are your anti-virus and anti-virus arrangements? Any Kaspersky
products?

Are you running RegCompact by any chance?

All of what you had suggested I tried. The AT &T and Lenja project those
don't even sound familar to me. Hijack this didn't show O4 - Startup:
NTUSER.DAT.rctemp.LOG
O4 - Startup: NTUSER.DAT.rcbak
O4 - Startup: NTUSER.DAT
O4 - Global Startup: ntuser.dat
O4 - Global Startup: ntuser.dat.LOG

I also use Autoruns and I can't find anything unusal except that some
drivers don't show a discription or publisher

My antivirus is Micro Trend Internet Security, and I have been having
problems with the spamtool and sometimes the updates. I had to install the
darn thing like 4-5 times so I can get the ability to download the updates.
I have been trying to get results from their tech support but they don't
seem to be in a hurry to help me, it has been going on since October.

Yes I run Registry cleaners. But what would that do? They would remove a
file, I'm just wanting to know if I can remove the ones I have listed.

I use RegVac or The one in tuneup utilities. I have been using them for
quite some time now and never noticed those (backup) files before. I
removed the one and put it in a folder on another partition and rebooted a
few times and I was able to access everything. I just added the
ntuser.dat.rcbak into another folder and rebooted and everything still seems
fine.
