Can the X axis be "value" rather than "category"?

I have scientific data where the data points have independent data which is
non-linear; the X axis values might be 1,2,4,5,8 and I have no values for
3,6,7. Is there a way that I can crate a line chart where the X values are
"value" based rather than "category"?

You would need to use a xy-scatter chart rather than Line chart.
