Can the Incompatibilty feature be disabled?

Any way that the Incompatibility feature that says you have an incompatible
driver and your system may become unstable and just gives you an option of
just an OK button. Can these be turned off in control panel anywhere and
still let you try the driver anyway?

Thanks,

Andy.

Andy,

The constant "Incompatible" warning that you experience is simply a
continuing *warning* that you are making a very serious repeated error by
installing those out-dated ancient not-certified third party applications
into Windows Vista.

Hence, please don't wrongly assign blame toward Windows Vista for all those
driver conflicts that soon you will encounter, just because you repeatedly
violate a very serious -warning-. Why are some folks such slow learners, in
respect to computing information technology?

Maybe your "thin black line" is caused by you using incompatible drivers??

I would suggest you heed the warnings as you do not know the results of
using drivers not written specifically for Vista.

Thanks but apportion blame to Dell then who shipped the PC out like this! -
If its correct what you are saying then they haven't loaded Vista compatible
drivers on the PC!

Did you get your Dell with Vista preinstalled. If so, you know who to
contact.

Yep it was pre-installed. They supplied a Dell OEM Vista Installation
CD/DVD operating system disk with it as well . Maybe it might be a good idea
to format the whole lot and start all over again and download the latest
vista drivers.

I got this 'upgrade your windows vista experience' DVD ROM as well whatever
that is all about - why did they supply that when they have already supplied
an OEM disc of Windows Vista?

Is the Incompatible driver warning your getting on the Dell system for a
Sonic (or Roxio) driver?
If so this is a known issue and is being worked on by Sonic, it's nothing
Dell or Microsoft can fix for you

As for disabling the prompts, it can be done however it's not recommended

WRT the 'upgrade your windows vista experience' DVD ROM it's used to upgrade
from say Vista Home Basic to Home Premium, or to go from Premium to Ultimate;
you'd need to buy the update digitally online but you can use that disc to
install from and not need to go out and buy another disc.

I don't mind that but I do mid that they haven't got a solution yet but the
software is still on there with incompatible drivers. Why load it at all if
its not compatible? - sonic/roxio Microsoft and I didn't load it but Dell
did, so begs the question why are they loading drivers/software/applications
that have not been tested fully with Vista before it leaves their factory?

Thanks for the answers. You wouldn't want to elaborate how to disable the
incompatible driver prompts would ye?

Microsoft just last week, or so, issued a warning that a lot of the software
that comes pre-installed on computers is not compatible with Vista and will
cause problems. It is up to the computer manufacturer to pick this up and
either resolve the issue with the person who is giving them a dollar to
install each piece of crap, or to refuse to install it period.

I would gladly pay $25.00 more for a computer that came with only the
operating system. It takes hours to de-crap a computer these days.

A reason to always insist on installation media with a PC, in spite of
Microsoft's push not to have it provided, and refuse to buy from
manufacturers who will not provide the media. Then, the first thing to do
is re-install from scratch.

Dale

It also take quite a bit of time to reinstall the operating system and hunt
down the drivers, install the drivers, configure the hardware.

A computer without the crap would be worth $25.00 more to me.

Which is one of the reasons my clients often have me do the build,
configure and install.

Same here.

I am constantly having my home based customers bringing me brand new
computers in sealed cartons - for cleaning.

I tell them that if they open the box and put the computer on the internet -
all bets are off. They may already be had.

You don't have to pay for that option, just tell Dell you want nothing but
the operating system on your new 'puter, they will do it, or at least I know
they have done it.

As for spending hours in the de-crap process, why not just use PC
Decrapifier?
