Can the account still receive email if we disable it?

Hi all,

I am wondering whether we can disable an user account in the Active
directory, if we still want to receive emails from that account.

What happen is we have a sales person who lefts us recently, his client
might be still sending him email, and at the moment all of his mail is
forwarded to another other email account. If we disable his account, will it
stops people sending email to him and stop the forwarding?
