Subject: Saving email before installing Outlook 2003

I put Outlook 2003 on my new computer. However, I still
have a multitude of old emails on my old computer, in
Outlook 2000. Is there a way to save the emails en masse
to a disk, instead of saving them one at a time? How do I
then add them to Outlook 2003 on the new computer? Both
computers use Windows XP.

Yes there is. All of your old messages and everything else in your Personal
Folder Set is compressed in a single physical file. The default name for the
file is Outlook.pst and the default location is a hidden file.

Go to the old machine, click Start|Run, then type

Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook and click OK

That will open the hidden folder that contains your old folder sets. If you
copy those files over a network or to a CD, you can transfer your data to your
new machine.

To use the files on your new machine you must open Outlook, click
File|Open}Outlook Data File and navigate to wherever you restored the file(s)
