I can see all my shares on my Vista PC from the XP Pro PC. Also I can
open them and do whatever is necessary.

I can also "see" all my shares on my XP PC from Vista but can't open
any of them.

I have disabled the firewalls on both machines to no avail.

I have insured my permissions are correct. I have updated both
PC's with all the latest updates.

ARRRR.....Can somebody help?????

PS - I have spent the last 5 hours in google looking for solutions but
none of the sites have offered anything that works.

Respectfully,

Trev

Perhaps you could tell us the exact symptoms when you try to open them.

I get an access denied error.
I can see the shares and share names but I just keep getting access
denied. I could be more a problem with XP's ability to cope with Vista
than vise versa....just not sure.

Thanks.

It's hard to say exactly what the issue might be without understanding what
articles you viewed and what workarounds you've tried so far. I might be
giving you a workaround you've already tried, but this can happen if NTLM 2
support is not enabled on your Windows XP computer.

Try a Windows Live search instead of google, you'll get better results ;)

This article, specifically, has a few things to try out (including enabling
NTLM 2 support on your XP machine):
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/network/evaluate/vista_fp.mspx

Good luck.

Thanks so much for that tip. I see a service called NTLM but not NTLM
2. Is this something I have to download? Else, where might I find out
how to enable (or verify if its enabled)?
