Hello all,

I have just connected my laptop (which is running XP) to my Win2K network. I
can see the laptop from the other PCs, and I can see them from the laptop. I
can reach the Internet from the laptop but cannot actually connect to any of
the other network PC ("network path was not found").

Any ideas?

Hi

Can you ping the laptop using the computer, or it seems to the porblem
related to firewall setting.

I can't ping the laptop from the computer, but I can ping the computer from
the laptop.

Running IPConfig on the laptop lists two addresses for the Ethernet card:
one under Local Area Connection and one under Network Bridge.

Lee

Have you installed firewall program?

Hello,

Can you connect to the other PCs in the network by using their IP address? if yes then you could have a name resolution issue.
Try the following:
If network is an AD domain and XP box is a member then make sure that it points to your internal DNS server (authoritative for your DNS name space) for
dns name resolution (not your ISP dns server). Your DNS server can resolve internet names through a forwarder or root hints.

If you cannot connect to other PCs by their IP address then there is probably an issue with some packet filtering software(firewall) running on XP box .
