My motherboard is ASUS P4P800
Intel 865PE Chipset
ICH5R with Integrated SATA and RAID 0
support SATA I (150MB/s)

I want to buy WD Caviar SE16 500GB Hard Drive
Serial ATA-300, 7,200 RPM, 16MB
WD - WD5000AAKS

In the wikipedia, the article says that "there is backward compatibility
between 1.5 and 3.0, but some older SATA controllers do not properly
implement SATA speed negotiation"

Any informations about P4P800 with this hard drive?

Thank you

Sean Kim

I just bought this very drive and it is a good performer and pretty quiet. I
can't comment on your motherboard, but you could always get a separate
controller card if it doesn't work properly, when connected to the
motherboard's SATA.

The answer is almost certainly that it will be fine.
Check the Drive jumper details...perhaps via the Manufactures site ..
There should be a link which is default open for 300 & put a jumper on
for 150 ..
Tho it might not need it.
