Can rich text format (memo) carry over in a make table query?

I have a make table query pulling data from a memo field. I set the field
property in the query to rich text, but in the resulting table, the field has
reverted to plain text. The table then populates a report. I can reformat
the field in the report as rich text, but I've still lost some of the
formatting because it didn't come over in the original make table query. Any
thoughts?
