Can Receive but Can't Send in Windows Mail

Until a few days ago I was able to receive and send mail in Windows Mail. I
am still receiving mail but can't send. I have checked the settings (25,
110) and they are correct. Checked the authentication settings and it is
checked as well as use same as incoming mail. I have turned off my
anti-virus and firewalls and it still won't work. HELP!!!!!

If SMTP settings are correct, and you are logged into THAT server - the
one for which the settings have been configure - but still cannot sent,
I suggest a call to your ISP.

If SMTP settings are correct, and you are logged into THAT server - the
one for which the settings have been configured - but still cannot send,
I suggest a call to your ISP.

I believe Comcast uses 587 for the outgoing (SMTP) port.

You are correct Comcast does use port 587, but I have configured my Comcast
account to use this port and still no luck sending email. I am able to
receive.

Here is the error message I receive:
The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'Birthday present from my
dad', Account: 'Comcast', Server: 'smtp.comcast.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port:
587, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

Try putting a check mark for "My server requires authentication".
 
I have that check mark selected, and then the setting is set to use the same
authentication userid and password as the incoming.

Nothing stuck in your outbox is there? Its causing me loads of problems and
i've read all the threads. Seems sad that something so trivial is causing so
many users so many problems. Hope MS patch it ASAP as its bit pathetic that
after so many years a bug has slipped through that is affecting so many
people.
 
Here:
Try this:

1. Go to the Vista start menu and type cmd
2. The search results will display a program titled cmd
3. Right-click on the link and select "Run as administrator"
4. type "netsh interface tcp set global autotuning=disabled" without
the quotatioin marks
5. Test your POP account and see if you can now download your mail.
6. If nothing changes, reenable the autotuning feature by typing
"netsh interface tcp set global autotuning=normal"

Also make sure you don't have antivirus software set to scan email. See
www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3 If you do, then turn it off and then remove
the mail account close and reopen WinMail and then add it back again. See
if that fixes it.

Here is what I did, which may be a bit more lengthy than what most people
need to do due to the Vista user problems my version has. Most people should
be able to go to Computer, C Drive, Users, select their user name, and see
the AppData file from there, and I cannot.

I went to start
in the start search area (just above start) I entered C:\Users\my user
name\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail (note that Windows Mail must be
written as two separate words)
I clicked on Windows Mail at the top of the list page
I selected WindowsMail.MSMessageStore and pasted a copy in my documents
(just in case)
then deleted the file
I opened the Backup folder
then Opened the New folder
Deleted the WindowsMail.MSMessageStore in this folder
Closed out of everything and then upon opening Windows Mail it restores
itself and also gives you several "restore" folders under the default folders.
I then proceeded to input my emails into the folders by copy and pasting (I
did notice a note online while searching that stated it is not a good idea to
copy and paste several emails at once as this action can cause another
"ghost" email, it also stated that doing anything too fast can cause this
problem.)

I hope this helps. I am more than happy to save anyone and everyone from
having the problems I've had.
