I can print from all my office and CAD applications
(Although not from IE or Outlook Express, I get
a "Printing Error, An error occurred during this
operation") but the printers folder is empty. The add
printer icon does not respond, nor does server properties.

I have tried to restoring to well before the problem
occured but the problem still remained, hence I undid the
restore.

Any information/ suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Hi Kim. Sorry I am about 2 years late with this solution.
This problem happened to a PC on the site that I support, and I coul
not find any solution for the problem either. Numerou
searches with Google and Technet revealed nothing, the only thing
found with searching the internet was your question to the same proble
that I was having. Eventually though, I found the solutio
myself. The problem existed because a file called PRINTUI.DLL whic
exists in the C:\Winnt\System32 folder was corrupted. Mor
specifically, the file in this case was zero bytes in length!
deleted the file, and the operating system re-created it again, an
then printing functionality was restored. This happened on
Windows 2000 Professional workstation, but I would imagine if i
happened on XP, the same would apply.

The main reason I have posted this is if sometime in the future thi
should happen to someone else, hopefully this will help them. :
