Hi All,

to use my PC (Compaq PIII, 500Mhz, 384MB) as a Video-Recording-Machine
I bought a Samsung SP1604N Harddrive. After upgrading the BIOS it was
successfully detected. Now I tried to restore my Image of the old
Drive, created with Deploycenter 5.01, to the new Disk. After 10% the
process stopped with failure and the disk only does a clack, clack
..... I tested the Drive in another PC: same result.

I went to my Dealer, he gave me a new Drive, I plugged in in. Before
restoring I checked the Drive with Partition Magic 7.0 and found it
ok. Started to restore...same result (10%, clack..).

Next day called Samsung Support. They told me that maybe a transport
damage of the whole charge is responsable for my problem and the
Dealer should give me a new Drive again. He did it.

Third Try ... Same result (clack, clack..)

Yesterday I persuaded my Dealer to change the Drive again. But now I
took an IBM Drive. Before damaging this I want to know if it is
possible, that my version of Deploycenter has killed the drives.

Please help, thanks
Detlev

Possible, yes. Likely, no.

Consider if this could be a power supply or power cable issue.

The powersupply is ok. Cables and Controller are new (Promise Ultra
bought with 2nd change of drive). Restoring the Image to an old 16GB
Drive was finishied successfully. Yesterday, I put in the fourth disk
as the second drive of my PC. Formatted it under W2K and it works
well. Seems Deploycenter has diffults with this size of drive or ?
