I have two Windows XP Pro machines networked via a
Linksys router. Machine A has a dynamic IP address;
Machine B has a fixed IP address.
When I first turn on machine A, I am able to ping machine
B by both computer name and IP address.
After a few minutes, I lose the ability for Machine A to
ping Machine B by name and can only ping by IP address.
At this point, Machine A can ping Machine B by IP address
only, but Machine B cannot ping machine A at all (request
times out).
Both machines are in the same workgroup, I have NetBios
over TCP/IP enabled on both machines, and Node Type on
both machines is None. Neither machine is running ICF
and both are on the same subnet.
Any ideas?
