Hello! I have a situation where I am trying to set up IP
routing on this mulithomed 2003 box. I have routing
installed and i have give NIC A an address of 10.10.10.1
with the 255.0.0.0 and NIC B gets 192.168.1.225.

On a client machine of 10.10.10.50 I can ping
192.168.1.225 but not any other IP address beyond that
from that client machine, nor can I get the internet which
is located on 192.168.1.254. The mulithomed 2003 can
access the net but not the client attached to it. What do
I have to set up to be able to ping other 192.168.1.0
mahcines and get the internet on that machine. 2003 is
very much like 2000.

Thanks you!

Chriterson

What is the default gateway setting of the clients on the 192.168.1
subnet? How do they get to the Internet?

This sort of problem usually comes up when the Internet router and the
"first" subnet do not know how to reach the new subnet. Does your setup look
like this?

Internet
|
router
192.168.1.254
|
workstations
192.168.1.x dg 192.168.1.254
|
192.168.1.225 DG 192.168.1.254
RRAS
10.10.10.1 dg blank
|
workstations
10.10.x.y dg 10.10.10.1

To get this to route, you need to add a static route to the Internet
router to forward traffic for 10.10 to the RRAS router. The Internet router
can then deliver traffic it gets from the Internet and will also "bounce"
local traffic for 10. addresses to the RRAS router for delivery.

eg 10.0.0.0 255.0.0.0 192.168.1.225
