Can ping but can't surf

Hello,

Wondering if anyone can help me.

I am running XP Pro with IE6.

I can ping both the server name and IP address of sites,
but can't actually view it with IE. Everything else
works (email, messanger etc.) Just not able to see the
sites.

If I reboot the modem and the machine it sometimes comes
back.

Any suggestion??
