Can people change dates on emails and how can we tell?

We have received an email from someone who is trying to prove they
emailed us on a certain date but we suspect they have simply forwarded
an email and changed the date. Does anyone know how we could tell if it
has been changed? Its quite important that we find out. Any help
appreciated!

i think if you highlight the email and then go to the file menu and click on properties and then click the details tab it will give you a history of the email and everywhere its been - i think!

Change the date / time on your computer and make a new
mail,this will appear as send on that date
