Is it possible to create a co-owner for an Outlook distribution list? If so,
how? Thx.

I am the owner of a couple of distribution lists that I want to share editing
privileges with another person in a different state. I am sorry, I don't
know what you mean by "information store," but I hope I have clarified what I
want to do.

Thanks for your work here.

You and the other person have accounts on the same exchange server and the
DL is in your contacts folder? If so, give their account editor permission
to your contacts folder.

Thanks for letting me know it's possible. I just don't know how to do it. I
know how to open the contacts menu and I have looked around to find it. My
company's own so-called support desk told me it wasn't possible. So...

I would really appreciate a *little* step-by-step.

Well, if they say its not possible, it might not be possible. Let's start at
the top - what type of email account do you have set up in outlook?

Oh, Gosh, I feel pretty ignorant about this. Here's what I got from "About"

Application name Outlook
Version 11.0
Build 6568
Product ID 73931-640-2292733-57351
Language English (United States)
Application Path C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\
System Language English (United States)
Mail Support Not Available
Current folder Inbox
Current item Not Available

In addition, I cannot create my own distribution lists (nor can anyone
else). It has to go through IT. Once it has been created, however, the owner
of the list has full editing privileges.

And, there are many, many, many distribution lists in my address book that
have been created by others and are accessible to me and all the other 30,000
people in our company.

Thanks again for taking time to answer.

What happens when you click New>Distribution List?

I did try that yesterday, and basically what happens is you appear to go
through all the regular steps but it doesn't actually create a distribution
list.

Thanks again to all who answer here.

Please describe the steps you take in detail.

From Outlook:
File-->New-->Distribution List-->Window Opens-->Name List-->Select
Members-->Save and Close.

No warning comes up saying "you can't do this," but the Test list I created
(I have tried this several times) does not show up in our address book.

I am familiar with using distribution lists; I have just never had the issue
of co-ownership come up, and I would like to accommodate it if possible. As
noted earlier in this discussion, our somewhat, eh, inconsistent, ahem, IT
desk says it's not possible. I was just hoping to find a workaround here.

Thanks again to all who read and answer here.

Outlook keeps DL with contacts in the Contacts folder. There is no real
"address book" in Outlook. What you see as the "address book" is just a view
of your contacts folders that shows all the entries that have electronic
addresses, either e-mail or FAX. Also, Save and Close places the DL in the
default Contacts folder. If you're looking at some other Contacts folder or
at the Global Address List, you won't see your DL. The GAL is populated from
Active Directory and you can't change it from within Outlook.

There will be one owner of any DL, but that doesn't mean it can't be shared.
Do you use Exchange?

There's something about an earlier post you made that makes me wonder. That
post contains:

With no mail support, why would you need to share a distribution list? Since
you can't send mail, DLs are pointless.

Thanks, now I get the part about going into Contacts to look for distribution
lists! And the distribution lists in question are *not* stored in my
contacts. As for the not having email support, that's simply one more oddity.
Thanks again for the help.
