I frequently leave my calendar displaying the last date I looked at, either
in the future or the past, and then when I return to it, I forget that it's
not displaying the current week with the predictable disastrous results, as I
miss meetings, go to the wrong place, or schedule things intended to take
place tomorrow in the wrong week.
It would be nice to set a time-out, e.g. 60 seconds of inactivity, after
which the Outlook calendar would automatically snap back to today.
Is this possible?

Most people get PO'd because the calendar does revert to today (or the week
month that includes today) when they switch folders and come back so I don't
think they'd like the open calendar resetting to today automatically. If it’s
a problem for you, get in the habit of clicking the Today button (Alt+O)
when you leave the calendar open. Switching between modules and back to the
calendar will reset it to Today.

Thanks for your reply. I figured out how to create separate shortcuts to
launch an instance of Outlook showing my e-mail and another showing my
calendar because the size of my file and the performance of Microsoft
Exchange at my workplace made me impatient when I switch between the two.
I'm hoping there's a hidden setting somewhere that will allow me to customize
the program to suit how I prefer to work.

While there are many things you can customize, you can't set the calendar to
reset to Today. Get in the habit of pressing alt+o when you switch to the
calendar screen.
