Can Outlook 2003 & Outlook Express 6 share the same address book?

When I had Outlook 2000 and Outlook Express on a Windows 98 machine
previously, when I made edits to the contacts in either application they
would show up in the other application even though each application used a
different email address. Since I upgraded to Windows XP and Outlook 2003 and
Outlook Express 6, each application started sharing the same address book,
but now as several months have passed the contacts I have added within each
application are only in that application. Is there anyway I can configure
the options within Outlook and Outlook Express to share the same address book?

Each address book has over 1,300 contacts in them. I have tried to use the
"Copy Outlook Contacts to the Outlook Express Address Book" from Microsoft
Assistance, but the process won't complete (it uses all of the system memory
of 512MB before the copying is done even with all other applications closed).
Even if I was successful here, based on the description this appears to only
be a one time fix and wouldn't allow me to truly share the contacts on a
going forward basis, it would just simply restart the baseline.
